The ecosystem
More than a venue. A living powerhouse.
Project Motion is engineered as an interlinked network of nodes - sport, media, education, manufacturing and culture sharing the same floor plan. University partnerships are wired into the build from day one, turning every venue into a live R&D, design and production lab for South Africa's next generation of engineers, designers, broadcasters and athletes.
Mechanical Engineering
Equipment R&D
Boards, bikes, ramps, rigs and safety hardware prototyped, tested and iterated on-site with athletes as live test pilots.
Electrical & Electronic Engineering
Wearable technology
Biometric sensors, impact telemetry, motion capture and on-board cameras developed in partnership with student labs.
Fashion & Textile Studies
Performance apparel
Technical apparel, team kits and sustainable fabric programmes co-designed with fashion schools and local manufacturers.
Architecture & Built Environment
Next-generation venues
Studio briefs to design future venues, modular structures and public spaces - taught on a working, real-world campus.
Media, Film & Broadcast Studies
Live production
Two on-site studios staffed in part by students - editing, directing, live-streaming events and producing the Building Motion docuseries.
Sports Science & Business
Athlete & enterprise pipeline
Performance science, coaching, sports management and entrepreneurship programmes anchored to the campus and its federations.
The media powerhouse
The biggest revenue engine isn't the venues. It's the content they generate.
Two on-site broadcast studios. Live UCI, WSL and IFSC World Cups. A flagship docuseries chronicling the build. 365 days a year of athlete, brand and community storytelling - all originating from the same campus, all owned, all monetisable in perpetuity. Project Motion is engineered as a media-first business with venues as the stage.
01
Live broadcast rights
Global World-Cup distribution, host fees and federation revenue shares.
02
Docuseries & long-form
Building Motion - a streaming-platform-ready chronicle of the campus.
03
Studio & sponsorship inventory
Two production studios for hire plus integrated sponsorship across every channel.
04
Library & licensing
Owned archive of every event, athlete and build - re-licensed for decades.
The long-term revenue engine
Venues depreciate. Content compounds.
The most valuable sports businesses in the world are no longer stadium operators - they are media companies. Netflix proved subscription drama scales globally. ESPN and Fox Sports proved live rights command premium carriage fees for decades. Red Bull Media House proved an owned action-sports library, athlete IP and a flagship docu-engine can build a multi-billion-dollar brand without owning a single ball or league. Project Motion is built on the same playbook - owned venues, owned athletes, owned cameras, owned archive - generating compounding, long-tail revenue that outlives every event cycle.
Sustainability
Recycled by design.
Every venue is engineered to hit 70-90% recycled material content - ocean plastic molded into berms and panels, fly-ash concrete, reclaimed invasive-species timber, tyre-rubber matting. Water loops through the adjacent Melkbosstrand WWTW. Power comes from the Cape sun.

The numbers
Built for grants. Run as a business.
A capital programme of R820M - R1.2B across six venues, underwritten by accreditation, tourism appeal and a 20-year community access charter - designed to qualify for IDC, NLC, FIFA Forward, PIC and DBSA funding lines.
